CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRIC <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />October 15, 2020 <br />6:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />M I N U T E S <br />Lange called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm and Byrne led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Cusworth, Holt, Huffer, Lange, Nickles <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis and Smith, <br />Senior Park Planner Mooney, IT Manager Segedie and <br />Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Concerned Off Road Bicyclist's Association (CORBA) <br />Steve Messer, President, CORBA, shared a presentation about the Sapwi Bike Park, <br />including a timeline of its inception and construction, details about the Sapwi Bike <br />Park Committee -- its leadership and members -- financials and monies raised (as of <br />10/2020 $263,000.) He reviewed some issues and challenges currently facing the <br />park and its users and shared future park plans. Board members thanked Messer for <br />his informative presentation and expressed appreciation to him and his team for the <br />amazing bike park they have helped to create. <br />Conejo Disc Golf Club (CDGC) <br />Mike Byrne, President, CDGC, reported this May was the 10 -year anniversary of the <br />Rabbit Flats Disc Golf Course at Thousand Oaks Community Center. Disc Golf had <br />its inception in the Conejo Valley; the very first Disc Golf tournament was held in the <br />Thousand Oaks in 1969 at the Conejo Community Center. Rabbit Flats is a great <br />beginner to advanced course; the course at Sapwi is an advanced player course. <br />Participation has grown since the pandemic began; Byrne shared pictures of both <br />courses and reported on the challenges of course upkeep and maintenance. He <br />answered Board members' questions and was thanked for his presentation. <br />
