Since the lobby expansion project completion in 2011, and due to ADA requirements —which <br />resulted in the enlargement of existing restrooms and thus removed interior access —staff has <br />been discussing various ways to provide the desired interior access to restrooms at Thousand <br />Oaks Community Center. Unfortunately, no solution was econornocally or architecturally feasible <br />for all building patrons. However, staff discussed and developed ideas to add an interior access <br />restroom for just the pre-school classroom as an alternative. The recommended improvement will <br />provide a multitude of advantages for patrons and staff including increased safety (i.e. maintaining <br />staff/patron ratio), more efficient use of time (i.e. less disruption to programming) and <br />learning/skills improvement for children (i.e. hand washing). <br />A Notice Inviting Bids was advertised in the Thousand Oaks Acorn, Construction Bidboard, Dnc., <br />Builder's Notebook, Ventura County Contractor's Association, Dnc., and posted on the District <br />website. Five interested bidders attended the mandatory pre-bid meeting held at the site and via <br />live zoom meeting on Tuesday, March 24th. Two bids were received and were opened at 8:30am <br />on Thursday, April 9th <br />Vendor Base Bid <br />Ardalan Construction $1297400 <br />SBS Corporation $1331191 <br />The low bid received from Ardalan Construction meets all the required specifications. <br />Thus, staff recommends awarding bid to Ardalan Construction. Ardalan Construction is a qualified <br />Contractor, with an A - General Engineering Contractor and B — General Building Contractor, and <br />has performed projects of similar size and scope with other local agencies, including Conejo <br />Valley Unified School District.
