February 20, 2020 <br />Page 3 <br />Friedl reported the concept of Art in the Park was discussed at the recent Board Retreat. <br />He asserted the best way to explore the topic would be to establish a committee. <br />Cusworth and Holt volunteered to participate; the Board acknowledged their offer to <br />participate and agreed the committee shall consist of Cusworth and Holt plus additional <br />appropriate CRPD staff. <br />10. REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />A. 2019-2020 2nd Quarter Capital Improvement Program Projects Status Report <br />B. Budget Performance Report <br />C. Board of Director's Athlete Awards <br />Holt mentioned that it was always great to see not only individual athletes, but entire <br />teams recognized with Athletic Achievement Awards. Nickles noted that spring sports <br />may not end until after the April 1 st deadline for applications. Callis replied that the goal <br />was to be able to recognize the athletes before they left for summer vacation. Nickles <br />also suggested building a relationship with the Ventura County Star, in addition to The <br />Acorn, to assist with identifying outstanding athletes throughout the community. <br />A. Parks Division Report <br />Hare reported eleven parking lots would soon be repaved by outside contractors. <br />Regarding the Conejo Community Park Assessment, the District has held multiple public <br />meetings and will be returning on March 5th to request authorization to begin moving <br />forward with the project. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Callis shared information about the Prom... Again! event hosted by Play Conejo. She <br />encouraged the Directors to share the Auction Donation information with their contacts. <br />She also shared that the Conejo Coalition for Youth & Families would be hosting the <br />second annual Youth & Family Summit on February 26th at Hillcrest Center. In addition, <br />many District staff attended the Youth Summit at the Thousand Oaks Library, which was <br />an inspiring event. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />No report. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reported that he and Melissa Smith recently participated in a three-day intensive <br />course on Public Engagement at the Davenport Institute at Pepperdine University.
