The
following presents an overview of the request and analysis, and the resulting recommendation.
Overview of Request and Analysis
Conejo Recreation and Park District has proposed some modifications to the Recreation
Supervisor and Recreation Coordinator job descriptions as it relates to the Therapeutic
Recreation Unit within the District. In 2oz8, the District had a separate classification of
Recreation Therapist that was responsible for organizing, leading, and coordinating therapeutic
recreation programs. Since these duties were similar to duties performed by Recreation
Coordinators, it was recommended that the Recreation Therapist classification be consolidated
into the Recreation Coordinator classification with the Recreation Therapist position serving as
the lead for Inclusion Services District -wide.
The new revisions to the Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Coordinator classifications
reflect that the Recreation Supervisor classification now has the responsibility for coordinating
Inclusion Services District -wide with the Recreation Coordinator assigned to the Therapeutic
Recreation unit, assisting in these functions. Specific changes to the job descriptions include:
Recreation Supervisor
Therapeutic Recreation Unit: serves as lead for inclusion .services; evaluates, develops
and makes recommendations to implement inclusion services and programming for
those with special needs based on research, trends and best practices; monitor their
effectiveness; keep current, review, and analyze applicable laws and legislative issues and
trends in the area of program assignment for implementation.
Recreation Coordinator
• Serves as assistant to the supervisor responsible for Inclusion services by helping to
evaluate, develop and make recommendations to implement services and programming
for those with special needs based on research, trends and best practices; assists in
monitoring their effectiveness in the area of program assignment for implementation.
A Tradition o f Excellence Since 19 72
51?6 si=c: c Rr,+:ch Rood, Suite 410, Rocklin, Calif ,wia y5*: Phone: 916,463,24P9P Fnx: 9161630-4977 Website; A w_rrdri;sa>derser,cor
