June 6, 2019 <br />Page 5 <br />Hare reported on the success of three recently held major events: the Rotary Club's Chili <br />Cook -Off, Conejo Valley Days and the Oakheart Country Music Festival. Field <br />refurbishment began last Monday. Fire restoration is nearing an end; a contractor should <br />be secured soon for the repair of the Wildwood Bridge. If the dollar amount needed <br />exceeds the GM's authority, Board authority will be sought. It is hoped that the bridge <br />will be repaired an opened in the next couple of months. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Duerr reported the Recreation Division is gearing up for the summer season; summer <br />camps will begin on Monday. Last week, the Teen Center held their annual Tech <br />Convention with five keynote speakers. The City of Thousand Oaks "Senior of the Year <br />Dinner" will be next Thursday, June 13th at 5:30 pm. Recent changes in staffing include <br />Melissa Ruwhiu taking over for Brenda Coleman and America Nava replacing Ruwhiu. <br />Upcoming events on June 15th include "Touch a Truck" and the CLU Community Pool <br />10 -year Anniversary celebration. Kurt Gunning and Lori Olbrich received the Rothschild <br />award from the Thousand Oaks Rotary Club earlier today for their work with the "Safe <br />Passage" program. The Safe Passage annual overnight campout is at Wiidwood Park <br />tomorrow evening. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda reported the new auditors were at Hillcrest Center this week. She thanked <br />Accounting Manager Massie and her staff for their assistance. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl advised Board members that copies of the recently modified "Five -Year Strategic <br />Plan" has been provided for them at the dais this evening. To help celebrate the 25th <br />Anniversary of the Civic Arts Plaza, the City is providing a number of "Pop Up" Arts and <br />Music Festivals this summer, many of which are utilizing different CRPD parks <br />throughout the community. After the award presentation to Gunning and Olbrich today, <br />the Thousand Oaks Rotary Club formed a committee to determine how they might assist <br />with the Safe Passage program. At the next Board meeting, a consultant will be giving <br />a Revenue Measure Study presentation. There will be a need for closed session this <br />evening, with no report expected. <br />E. Directors' Reports & Follow -Up Reports on Meetings/Conferences Attended <br />Holt attended Coleman's retirement party and the Memorial Day Concert. Cusworth <br />attended the Ventura County Special Districts Association (VCSDA) dinner meeting, the <br />All District Music Festival, the Stagecoach Inn Board meeting, the Memorial Day Concert, <br />and a Chumash Museum lecture. Nickles attended the VCSDA Dinner meeting and <br />participated in the Metropolitan Water District's tour of the Colorado river aqueduct as a <br />guest of the Calleguas Municipal Water District. He attended, with Friedl and Huffer, the <br />annual CARPD conference; both Nickles and Lange gave kudos to Friedl for his <br />presentation there. Lange attended the Memorial Day Concert and flyover and was a <br />
