TREASURERJAX COLLECTOR
{VENTURA COUNTY
STEVEN HINTZ
TREASURER
TAX COLLECTOR
Sue Horgan
Assistant Treasurer -Tax Collector
May 21, 2019
Ventura County Board of Supervisors
800 South Victoria Avenue
Ventura, CA 93009
SUBJECT: Receive and File Report of Investments, Including Market Values for
Investments for the Month Ending March 31, 2419.
RECOMMENDATION: Receive and File
FISCALIMANDATES IMPACT: None
DISCUSSION:
This report covers the one-month period ending
positive trends in the investment portfolio results.
March 31. 2019. The report reflects continuing
The average daily portfolio balance for March was $2.650 Billion, which exceeds what was the
highest March balance ever, by $264 Million. It reflects a slight increase over the February balance.
As I write this report, the pool balance is just over $3 Billion, the highest pool balance ever.
The annualized percentage yield for March was 2.655%, a slight decrease from February's
2.669%. Our pool exceeded the yields of all three of its benchmarks. The interest rate market in
our sectors and within our maturity horizon has settled, as the Federal Open market Committee
has apparently decided not to move interest rates for several months. The steadily rising interest
rate market helped raise the pool's annualized yield from 1.0% in March 2017 to its current level in
just 24 months. I believe the pool's annualized percentage yield will remain steady within a range
of 2.50% - 2.70% for several months.
Going forward, if the current pool investments were all held to maturity, the pool's approximate
yield to maturity is 2.65%.
The total net earnings for March were $5.974 Million, an as -predicted increase over February.
Earnings will stay over $5.5 Million as long as the pool balance stays over $2.8 Billion and there
are no significant interest rate changes.
800 South Victoria Avenue, Ventura, California 88009-1290
www.venturap-WeVax.org (W5)65 -V34
