April 4, 2019 <br />Page 4 <br />successful "tarp surfing" contest (skateboarding on a moving tarp). The Senior Volunteer <br />Program Thank You luncheon is scheduled for April W1. Nesbitt at Thousand Oaks <br />Community Center utilized a patron's recommendation to hold a "cubing contest"; there were <br />over 100 participants and $2500 was raised for the Ventura County Futures Foundation. <br />Hillcrest Center for the Arts' production of "The Evil Dead" opens tomorrow night. The <br />Districtwide Music Festivals are fast approaching; a speaker sign-up sheet is available for <br />Board members this evening. The Goebel Adult Community Center remodel is completed. <br />The CRPD website is in the process of being revamped and updated; the new site is <br />expected to be unveiled in June. A survey was recently sent to over 3,200 patrons re: the <br />District's marketing and communication efforts. The results are being compiled and will be <br />presented to the Board at a later date. Callis reminded Board members of upcoming McCrea <br />Ranch activities. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda reported work on the Auditor Request for Proposals has been completed and staffs <br />recommendation will be presented to the Board at the next Board meeting. Work continues <br />on budget preparation and labor negotiations. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reported there is no need for a Closed Session this evening. This Saturday there will <br />be a Trail Work Days at the Westlake Community Park and YMCA from 7.30 am to noon. <br />E. Directors' Reports & Follow -Up Reports on Meetings/Conferences Attended <br />Lange reported he attended a Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy (SMMC) meeting, a <br />Ventura County Special Districts Association (VCSDA) meeting and a Mountains Recreation <br />& Conservation Authority (MRCA) meeting; the MRCA meeting was held at the MRCA Fire <br />Camp in Calabasas. Nickles attended the California Parks & Recreation Society (CPRS) <br />Conference from March 19-22 in Sacramento, including the awards ceremony with Hare and <br />Huffer where Sapwi Trails Community Park was recognized. He has completed three of the <br />ten open space challenge hikes. He participated in a S'mores Hike in Wildwood. This <br />Saturday he will be attending the "Sapwi After Dark Hike" with his grandson. He continues to <br />be appreciative of CRPD staffs commitment to the District's mission. Holt had get togethers <br />with both Sandee Everett, Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) Board Member <br />and Al Adam, City of Thousand Oaks (CTO) Councilmember. She attended the Goebel <br />Senior Center Commission Nominating Committee meetings and the Goebel Senior Center <br />Commission Board meeting. Cusworth has completed three of the ten hikes in the COSCA <br />challenge. She recently attended a Stagecoach Inn Board meeting and a lecture at the <br />Chumash Museum. She had breakfast at the Goebel Cafe Monday. Huffer is meeting <br />tomorrow morning with Betsy Connolly, CVUSD Board member, and he has spoken briefly <br />with CTO Councilmember Jones regarding an upcoming get together. He is helping to <br />facilitate members of his Kiwanis club volunteering to rebuild the aps at the Chumash Center. <br />12. REQUEST FOR STATUS REPORTS AND ITEMS FOR SUBSEQUENT AGENDA <br />13.
