Holt, Director <br />Nellie Cusworth, Director <br />Doug Nickles, Director <br />GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS <br />Tex Ward <br />SUBJECT: Amendment #1 to Memorandum of Understanding with Las Flores <br />Community Garden <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Authorize General Manager to enter into Amendment #1 to the Memorandum of Understanding <br />with Las Flores Community Garden. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Due to the success of the garden, in April 2014, the District entered into a new Memorandum of <br />Understanding (MOU) (attached) with the Las Flores Community Garden. The April 2014 MOU <br />allowed for a .79 -acre expansion to the prior 1 -acre garden. <br />The Garden is managed by a volunteer board of directors, offers 10'x 20' plots (over 200 total, <br />including children's plots) to district residents for an annual fee of $45 dollars plus a refundable <br />one-time clean-up fee of $20 per plot. <br />In order to continue the District's successful relationship with Las Flores Community Garden, staff <br />recommends extending the Agreement an additional five years until April 17, 2024 with the <br />attached Amendment #1. All other terms and conditions of the original agreement apply. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN COMPLIANCE <br />Meets 2019 Strategic Plan Element 4.6 Partnerships: Local non-profit organizations. Maintain <br />and build relationships with local non-profit organizations engaged in activities consistent with the <br />District's mission.
