ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION <br />A. Legislative Update <br />Friedl provided information on the two main associations the District vis a vis contact between <br />the District and Sacramento: the California Association of Recreation & Park Districts <br />(CARPD) of which Friedl serves on their Legislative Committee and the California Special <br />Districts Association (CSDA) which also has a legislative committee. Friedl receives <br />information from both organizations regarding updates to laws and recommendations on <br />legislation worth monitoring. He highlighted those areas of most importance to the District, <br />including property taxes, redevelopment agencies, unfunded mandates, open space, water <br />and employer/employee legislation. When specific support is indicated, Friedl or the Board <br />Chair may weigh in via a letter of support. He shared a recent example of same regarding <br />the Ventura County wildlife corridor. <br />10. REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />A. Youth Outreach Program — Fall 2018 Summary Report <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />This year, the Persian New Year celebration is being hosted by the California Multicultural <br />Society and will be held in Moorpark. On the same date, the District will host "a day at the <br />park" at Conejo Creek North; there will be a $20 per car parking fee and the District will <br />provide staff for the event. The Conejo Coalition for Youth and Families held their first ever <br />"Summit"; it was well attended and very successful. Holt commended Callis and her staff <br />for all their efforts in coordinating the event. The Goebel Adult Community Center is <br />currently undergoing some renovations. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />In answer to a Board member's inquiry, Lewanda reported that investment reports must be <br />provided regularly per Government Code Section 41004. <br />
