CONEJO RECREATION & PARK DISTRICT RECREATION & COMMUNITY SERVICES DIVISION <br /> YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAM <br />FALL 2018 SUMMARY REPORT PAGE 9 OF 10 REVISED 01.2019 <br />COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT <br /> <br />Fiore Gardens Teen Program with Area Housing Authority of Ventura County <br />Weekly programs for teens living at the Fiore Gardens Apartment Complex (10 participants weekly) <br />led by Pete Martinez on Thursdays from 4:30 – 6:00 PM. Activities include: <br />• Group Discussions <br />• Assistance with school work <br />• Group Games <br />• Arts and Crafts <br />• Snacks and Drinks <br />• Excursions to various venues <br />The Mission of Area Housing Authority is to provide opportunities and assistance to people in need of <br />affordable housing. <br /> <br />City of Thousand Oaks Youth Commission Meetings <br />The Commission advises the City Council on local youth concerns and issues. This includes providing <br />information to our community about services available for youth. The Youth Commission holds public <br />meetings September through May on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Students are <br />encouraged to attend meetings and present concerns, ideas, or announce special events. Middle and <br />High School representatives are encouraged to attend and provide school reports. Pete Martinez serves <br />as one of two adult advisors to this group. Activities include: <br />• Therapeutic Dance <br />• Youth Recognition Awards <br />• Internship Fair <br />• Reality Parties <br />• Youth Leadership Summit <br />• Youth Implementation Plan <br />Fall Dates: September 5th and 12th, October 3rd and 10th, and November 7th <br /> <br />Conejo Creek Teen Program <br />Weekly programs for teens living at Conejo Creek Apartment Complex (25-30 participants weekly) led <br />by Dan Nalbandian each Tuesday from 5:15 – 7:30 PM. Activities include: <br />• Group Discussions <br />• Assistance with school work <br />• Group Games <br />• Arts and Crafts <br />• Snacks and Drinks <br />• Excursions to various venue <br /> <br />Annual Youth Outreach/Conejo Coalition Meet & Greet <br />This event provides a forum for Local Social Service Providers to share and showcase their organization <br />to secondary school site officials of the CVUSD so that they may refer youth and families to their <br />agency. This event is hosted at the Thousand Oaks Teen Center. There were 95 participants in <br />attendance on October 4th. All three Youth Outreach Workers coordinate and facilitate this event each <br />year. <br /> <br />
