CONEJO RECREATION & PARK DISTRICT RECREATION & COMMUNITY SERVICES DIVISION
YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAM
FALL 2018 SUMMARY REPORT PAGE 10 OF 10 REVISED 01.2019
Reality Party for Parents
Reality Parties are open to parents and to the public and are free. Participants tour a home set up to
portray a teen party with young actors voicing concerns expressed by local teens and young adults. At
the end of each tour parents and other adults meet with a panel of community professionals to discuss
their concerns and thoughts about the current realities and trends of the Teen Party Culture. This
program is about learning why and how we need to change these dangerous social norms. Over 30
participants attended the event on October 20th. Pete Martinez serves on the professional panel.

Reign of Terror Haunted House
Several groups of Youth Outreach students were given complementary tickets to attend the Reign of
Terror haunted house at the Janss Marketplace on October 26th. The Reign of Terror is an award-
winning annual Haunted House featuring 105 bone chilling rooms in 8 inter-connected attractions.
Activities like this help to keep our local, high risk youth connected to their community.

Fiore Gardens and Los Arboles Apartments (Area Housing) visiting Reign of Terror with Youth Outreach

OUTREACH WORKER REFLECTIONS
“Outreach participants are being recommended by school administrators. The Life Skills small
groups have been helping individual students improve academically and have increased
attendance. Additionally, 43 teens from Conejo Creek Teen Club and Warwick Apartments had
a bone-chilling experience at the annual Reign of Terror.”
– Dan Nalbandian, October 2018
