January 24, 2019 <br />Page 4 <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />No report. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reported there will be a need for closed session this evening, with no report expected. <br />He reported that COSCA now owns the Two Ponds property on the western flank of the city <br />near Dos Vientos. He spent the last two days at Pepperdine University with the Davenport <br />Institute for Public Engagement and Civic Leadership; he is enjoying serving on its Advisory <br />Board. Last week he attended a California Association for Park and Recreation Indemnity <br />(CAPRI) Board meeting. Next week he will be participating in a CAPRD Legislation <br />Committee conference call. <br />E. Directors' Reports & Follow -Up Reports on Meet! ngs/Conferences Attended <br />Nickles enjoyed the Lunar Eclipse Hike last Saturday; the hike leader, Zachary, did a great <br />job improvising, as the moon did not make an appearance. Last Friday, while visiting staff at <br />Hillcrest Center, he was given a tour of the theater by Scott Buchanan. Nickels stopped in <br />at Thousand Oaks Community Center while it was activated as an evacuation center for <br />storm/mudslide evacuees; he expressed appreciation to the staff for being readily available <br />for this service. Lange met Sheriff Ayub for coffee recently. Cusworth shared a 1966 article <br />and picture from the "News Chronicle" regarding the Stagecoach Inn and its "final resting <br />place" as a partner of CRPD. She has spoken to Barbara Tejada of the Chumash Indian <br />Museum Board. Holt reported she will be attending a party for Pat Phelps, a former member <br />of the Conejo Coalition for Youth and Families who just recently ended her term on the Board <br />of Education. Huffer attended a meeting regarding the Persian New Year this morning. Last <br />week he attended a COSCA Trail Naming Committee for; a dozen trails were properly <br />named. His training forthe Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax program is ongoing. <br />12. REQUEST FOR STATUS REPORTS AND ITEMS FOR SUBSEQUENT AGENDA <br />Nickles reported that he and Cusworth received an email from the off leash folks requesting a <br />meeting. It was the consensus of the Board that the OLA ad hoc committee should not be <br />reinstated. As a follow up to North Ranch discussion, Nickles suggested that what has been <br />learned in that situation should perhaps be applied to other similar parks. <br />13. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />14.
