From: Tom Hare <thare@crpd.org> <br />Sent: Saturday, November 10, 2018 8:52 AM <br />To: Tom Hare <thare@crpd.org> <br />Subject: Re: Fires <br />CRPD Board and staff: <br />8:30 AM 11/10/18 (brief update of CRPD activities) <br />CRPD staff continues to work with City staff and American Red Cross. <br />Recreation staff manning centers as evacuation shelters. <br />Teen Center: 68 patrons spent night. approximately 40 patrons currently there. <br />Goebel Adult Community Center - 100 -110 patrons spent night. 66 patrons currently there. <br />Borchard Center - 37 patrons spent night. 32 patrons currently there. <br />Thousand Oaks Community Center - 31 patrons spent night. Breakfast provided by salvation <br />army. <br />Dos Vientos Community Center remains closed. <br />CRPD programming canceled today (Saturday) <br />Sports fields, pool, and sport courts are closed due to air quality issues. <br />Conejo Creek South still being used as Incident Command Center, very likely for next week or <br />two. <br />Parks staff scheduled and supporting shelters and protecting parks 2417 until Monday. <br />Open Space closed due to continued fire threat. Many acres of natural open space has <br />burned. Hill Canyon bridge sustained damage. Closure to last for a few weeks. <br />Sustained damage at Lang Ranch Neighborhood Park and North Ranch Neighborhood Park - <br />playgrounds at each may have sustained heat damage, valve boxes, benches, other <br />infrastructure also potentially damaged. Parks staff is closing off damaged areas, including <br />playgrounds at each park. More damage assessment/comprehensive reports to CRPD-owned <br />facilities to follow after fire containment. <br />Chumash Museum successfully weathered extreme fire conditions, however, significant damage <br />to oak trees and Indian village destroyed. Sections of the canyon will be closed for foreseeable <br />future. <br />Staff has been working hard supporting the community. <br />I am turning over the reigns of CRPD efforts to Jim Friedl. <br />Tom Hare <br />
