Three Deck Mower Purchase in the amount of $59,952.65 <br />Hare reported on the process used in the Request for Proposal, wherein warranties, <br />servicing obligations and product performance were evaluated, in addition to the <br />price of the product. A general requirement was developed, and information was <br />requested from three distributors. After careful evaluation, the Turf Star was found <br />to be the superior mower; it would provide the greatest productivity, effectiveness <br />and efficiency. <br />It was moved by Huffer, seconded by Jones, and carried 4-0 to award the <br />purchase of a Toro Groundsmaster 4000-D Tree Deck Mower from Turf Star in <br />the amount of $59,942.65. <br />C. Award Bid for Oakbrook Neighborhood Park Playground Improvement Project <br />in the amount of $199,000 plus contingency in the amount of $20,000, totaling <br />$219,000 <br />Hare reported on the bid process; 17 interested bidders attended the mandatory pre- <br />bid meeting and eight bids were received. Unlimited Engineering provided the lowest <br />bid. This firm has performed projects of similar size and scope including several <br />projects with the District. Their bid is noticeably lower than others received, most <br />likely due to the fact that their work is not generally subbed out. <br />It was moved by Huffer, seconded by Lange, and carried 4-0 to: <br />1. Determine that the Oakbrook Neighborhood Park Playground Improvement <br />Project is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality <br />Act (CEQA). <br />2. Approve playground improvements at Oakbrook Neighborhood Park. <br />3. Award bid to Unlimited Engineering Contracting Inc. for $199,000 plus <br />contingency in the amount of $20,000, totaling $219,000 for removal of <br />existing play equipment, sand, installation of concrete ramps, curbs, <br />walkways, play fiber, and new play equipment. <br />
