Districtwide Special Events Summary <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Parks Division Report <br />Hare discussed the successful ribbon cutting for Sapwi Trails Community Park on September <br />22nd. The park is extremely popular and he has received a lot of positive feedback from <br />patrons. He thanked the Board and staff for their support. He also thanked those who <br />supported the successful Charity Karaoke fundraising event on September 21st. The Spring <br />Meadow ribbon cutting and cornhole tournament will be on Saturday, October 6th. There will <br />be a playground renovation project beginning soon at Oakbrook Neighborhood Park. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Callis referenced Recreation Highlights. There was record attendance at the concerts in the <br />park (21,200). She thanked the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, Conejo Community Center and <br />Brenda Coleman for all the work that they do to make that happen. The CSVP Charity <br />Karaoke event was very successful. There were 500 people in attendance and $10,000 was <br />raised. Programs have begun at Sapwi Trails Community Park and they are doing very well. <br />Aquatics is presenting Hotel Transylvania and free swimming on October 12th. Tonight, <br />Cecilia Laufenberg, Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor, is receiving an award from the <br />Autism Society of Ventura County as an Awesome in Autism Community Member of the <br />Year. Haunted Trails is coming up on Saturday, October 27th. Reign of Terror haunted house <br />is open, and they had an awesome first weekend. Goebel is hosting ballroom dancing for $8; <br />it's a dance lesson for one hour and then a live band until 10:00 p.m. Callis announced that <br />one of the Goebel Commissioners, Bonnie Baumeister, passed away last week. Ms. <br />Baumeister was the Commission Chair of Budget and Finance and volunteered at many <br />special events. She was a big advocate for Goebel and CRPD and she will be missed. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda reported that the Finance and Audit Committee met to discuss strategies to address <br />the District's unfunded liabilities. The Committee considered an IRS Section 115 Trust <br />through Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS), which could handle OPEB as well as <br />pension rate stabilization investments. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reported that Matt Duarte is the new Executive Director for CAPRI. Fried I's time on the <br />CAPRI Board is expiring but he intends to resubmit his name for another term. John Adams, <br />the City's Finance Director, has left to be the Chief Financial Officer for the State Bar of <br />
