1. <br />CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS SPECIAL MEETING <br />January 18, 2018 <br />4:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Holt called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm and Callis led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />0 <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Huffer, Lange <br />(Jones arrived 4:05 pm) <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis, Hare and Lewanda <br />and Executive Assistant Reynders <br />Also Present: Brent Ives, Consultant <br />SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Aquatics Department — "What Makes Staff Stay" <br />Dee Pearson, Aquatics Manager, presented a short video highlighting various Aquatics <br />staff members and patrons and the many programs offered at the pool. Her slide show <br />included staff statistics and highlighted the requirements for staff training. Pearson <br />answered Board member's questions and was thanked for her informative presentation. <br />ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Diana Lovejoy, Thousand Oaks, President of Organic Garden Club, requested that Earth <br />Day be championed. <br />William Brandt, Thousand Oaks, expressed concern over the cancellation of Earth Day. <br />Would like CRPD to step forward and sponsor the event. <br />Sharon Miret, Thousand Oaks, expressed concern/regret over the sale of the YMCA <br />facility in Dos Vientos and queried how the needs of that community will now be met. <br />Andy Levine, Newbury Park, expressed regret that more people did not know about the <br />sale of the YMCA in Dos Vientos and would like to see more classes offered in Newbury <br />Park. <br />S.
