November 16, 2017 <br />Page 4 <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Coleman reported this weekend will ae the last for "A Christmas Story the <br />Musical"; it is close to being sold out. The "Daddy/Daughter Princess Ball," an <br />annual event at Conejo Community Center, is this Saturday evening. The <br />Goebel Senior Adult Center is hosting a "History Comes Alive" event on <br />Sunday, November 19th; 926 (out of 200) tickets have been sold. The Goebel <br />"Holiday Craft Bazaar" will be on Dec 2`d. The Thousand Oaks Center annual <br />"Kids Swap Meet" will be on November 18th from 8 am — noon. Skateboard <br />Pros are coming to the Teen Center this weekend for a "Backyard Gathering" <br />with live music and a barbecue. One week from Saturday the Teen Center will <br />host the "Battle of the Bands". The Sports Department was awarded with the <br />2017 SCMAF Golden Shield Award; kudos to Dana Miller. There will be a <br />Holiday Tennis Tournament at Wildflower Playfields from December 4th through <br />January 11th. The "Reign of Terror Haunted House" was a great success this <br />year; Board members will be contacted when a check presentation ceremony is <br />scheduled; most likely some time during the first week of December. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda answered a question, raised at the last Board meeting, regarding the <br />reasons for increased revenues at Borchard Community Center. These <br />revenues are in part due to rental revenue increases, growing certain <br />enrichment and connector programs, an increase in evening offerings and <br />stepped up advertising. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reported the need for a closed session this evening with no report <br />expected. He attended the Ed Lawrence event at the Newbury Park Library last <br />Sunday; the photos on exhibit are still there; unfortunately, illness prevented Mr. <br />Lawrence from attending. Friedl also attended the CAPRI Strategic <br />RetreattBoard Meeting in San Diego this past Monday and Tuesday. Play <br />Conejo expects to hold their 4th annual "Prom Again" event on May 5th of next <br />year; theme to be determined. <br />E. Directors' Reports & Follow -Up Reports on Meetings/Conferences <br />Attended <br />Lange attended the recent Veteran's Day events past Saturday and found them <br />very memorable.
