November 16, 2017 <br />Page 2 <br />Payroll $401,200.00 <br />It was moved by Huffer, seconded by Holt, and carried 4-0 to approve <br />Consent Calendar Item 6B. <br />7. DEFERRED MATTERS <br />a. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION <br />9. NEW ITEMS <br />A. Council on Aging's Effort to Designate the City of Thousand Oaks as an <br />"Age Friendly/Livable Community" Through American Association of <br />Retired Persons (AARP)/World Health Organization (WHO) <br />Friedl reported that representatives from the Thousand Oaks Council on Aging <br />met with him, Callis, and Hare to discuss their efforts in generating stakeholder <br />support in preparation for approaching the Thousand Oaks City Council to seek <br />an "Age FriendlylLivable Community" designation through AARPIWHO. Friedl <br />noted the presence, in the audience, of Heather Cousin, Thousand Oaks <br />Library Director, and Francine Sprigel, Analyst, from the City of Thousand Oaks. <br />He introduced Tony Gift, a Commissioner on the Council on Aging. <br />Gift explained the role of the Council on Aging and what is meant by the <br />designation being discussed this evening. He offered a video on Livable <br />Communities, what they are and how they are created. Discussion ensued <br />regarding the benefits of obtaining this designation for the city of Thousand <br />Oaks and the efforts necessary to achieve same. Gift was thanked for his <br />interest and efforts. <br />It was moved by Jones, seconded by Huffer, and carried 4-0 to authorize <br />General Manager to Provide a Letter in Support of Council on Aging's <br />Effort to Designate the City of Thousand Oaks as an "Age Friendly/Livable <br />Community" Through AARPIWHO. <br />B. Award Bid for Fiore Playfield Playground Improvement Project <br />Hare stated twelve contractors attended the job walk for this project and eight <br />bids were receive. The lowest bid was from Jaynes Brothers. They have done <br />work for the Los Angeles Unified School District and the city of Anaheim; their <br />sole work is playground construction. <br />It was moved by Jones, seconded by Huffer, and carried 4-0 to: <br />1. Determine that the Fiore Playfield Playground Improvement Project <br />is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality <br />
