Goebel Senior Center Commission Meeting Minutes — August 2017 <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Parks Division Report <br />Hare reported the Futsal Ribbon Cutting will be on Wednesday, October 18th at <br />6:00 pm at Los Cerritos Middle School. Two projects will commence on Monday: <br />Banyan Neighborhood Park and Sapwi Trails Community Park. The CRPD <br />website will have continual updates on Sapwi as needed. The Sapwi Trails <br />groundbreaking will be on Saturday, October 21st. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Callis enjoyed attending the recent NRPA conference. The Reign of Terror <br />Haunted House is up and running; attendance the first evening was up 25% from <br />last year. There are a lot of fun Halloween events upcoming, including the Haunted <br />Trails at Thousand Oaks Community Park, a Spooky Movie Night at the CLU pool <br />and Oktoberfest at the Goebel Adult Community Center. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />No report. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reminded Board members of the following upcoming events: "State of the <br />Schools" on October 11th, and the Harvey & Frances Prince Dedication at <br />Wildflower Playfields on October 13th. With regard to emergency preparedness, <br />CRPD staff will participate in the "Great American Shakeout" on October '19th. The <br />Play Conejo Board will be engaging in a half-day retreat at McCrea Ranch on <br />October 20th. <br />E. Directors' Reports & Follow -Up Reports on Meetings/Conferences Attended <br />Holt reported on her attendance at the CSDA Annual Conference in Monterey; she <br />found it very informative and rewarding. Huffer, Jones and Lange attended the <br />NRPA Conference in New Orleans — very good classes and speakers. All reported <br />
