CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING. <br />October 5, 2017 <br />7:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Lange called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm, and a moment of silence was observed for <br />all the victims and those affected by the recent tragedy in Las Vegas. Pace, Loomis, <br />Segedie and Tanaka led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Holt, Huffer, Jones, Lange <br />Directors Absent: Gibson <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis, Hare and Lewanda, <br />and Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Employee Service Awards <br />Callis, Lewanda and Hare introduced the recipients, presented overviews of their <br />professional and academic accomplishments and thanked them for their outstanding <br />contributions to the District. <br />Recipients thanked the Board, co-workers, and families for their support, and expressed <br />appreciation for the award. <br />Directors congratulated and thanked recipients for their contributions and efforts on the <br />District's behalf. <br />Sports Department — Pickleball <br />Dana Miller, Recreation Supervisor, presented an overview of the history of the sport of <br />Pickleball and details of the pickleball facilities at the District. There are 29 programs and <br />400 participants through CRPD. She gave an overview of various tournaments and the <br />bright future of pickleball, including the goals of the District in promoting and supporting <br />this very popular recreational activity. <br />4.
