CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />November 17, 2016 <br />7:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Huffer called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm and Holt led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Holt, Huffer, Jones, Lange <br />Directors Absent: Gibson <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis, Hare and Lewanda <br />and Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />City of Thousand Oaks Youth Commission — Francine Sprigel <br />Douglas Shao, Chair of the CTO Youth Commission, shared some current goals for the <br />Youth Commission, based on the Youth Leadership Summit held earlier this year. He <br />identified two teams, Recreation and Mental Health/Substance Use, both of which are <br />planning many events in the coming year. Additionally, the Community Internships <br />Training Youth (C.I.T.Y.) Program will continue in the year ahead. Shao and Sprigel <br />answered Board member's questions and both were thanked for the informative <br />presentation. <br />Thousand Oaks Community Center— "Fishing Frenzy" <br />Melissa Ruwhiu, Recreation Supervisor, and America Nava, Recreation Coordinator, read <br />an oversized story book, "The Magnetic Fish." Ruwhiu presented an overview of the <br />"Fishing Frenzy" event, which began in 2007 and has gained popularity every year since. <br />600 children attended this year which was a sell-out. Board member's expressed <br />appreciation for the event and thanked her for the presentation. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />It was moved by Jones, seconded by Lange, and carried 4-0 to approve the agenda <br />
