Approve budget appropriation and expenditure in the amount of $10,000 from A/C # 001-0000-311-1000 (General Fund — Fund Balance) to A/C # 001-0920- 677-5920 (Senior Services, Grants and Donations). FINANCIAL IMPACT: $10,000 Increase to FY 2014-15 General Fund Budget. $10,000 increase to adopted FY 2014-15 General Fund - Senior Services Budget is requested. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: As an advisory body to City Council, Council on Aging (COA) is charged with the responsibility of making recommendations on matters of concern to senior citizens. (Res. No. 2010-081). The Commission also appoints liaisons to various senior agencies, including CSVP. At the February 19, 2014 COA meeting a volunteer member of CSVP spoke at public comments and requested the Commission consider assisting the CSVP program with funding and/or fund raising. After conducting funding and program research, on May 7, 2014, the Council on Aging voted unanimously to help support CSVP recognizing its outstanding benefit to the community. For 41 years, CSVP (previously known as Retired Senior and Volunteer Program or RSVP) has recruited and provided thousands of volunteers for local agencies and non- profits, including schools, hospitals, government, police department, libraries, and many others. Currently, CSVP has over 1,000 volunteers and serves 60 agencies, which benefit thousands of residents and the community, as a whole.
