Determine that the Walnut Grove Neighborhood Park Playground Improvement Project is <br />categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />2. Approve playground improvement at Walnut Grove Neighborhood Park. <br />3. Appropriate $80,000 from Unassigned Fund Balance. <br />4. Award bid to FS Contractors, Inc. for $344,500 plus contingency in the amount of $29,750, <br />totaling $374,250 for removal of existing play equipment, sand, block walls, installation of <br />concrete ramps, play fiber and new play equipment. <br />CEQA COMPLIANCE <br />For the Board consideration and approval, District staff believes the project qualifies for a Class <br />2 Categorical Exemption, pursuant to Section 15302 of the CEQA Guidelines. Class 2 <br />exemptions include replacement of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will <br />be located on the same site as the structure replaced. In this project, the project is replacing the <br />existing play equipment located in the same location. <br />If the project is approved, the District will file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk. <br />DISCUSSION <br />A Notice Inviting Bids was advertised in the Ventura County Star, Construction Bidboard, Inc., <br />Builders Notebook, Ventura County Contractor's Association, Inc., and posted on the District <br />website. Thirteen interested bidders attended the mandatory pre-bid meeting held at the site on <br />Tuesday, August 23rd.
