Q)ROPo
GENERAL MANAGER
Jim Friedl
TO: Board of Directors
FROM: Jim Friedl, General Mana r
DATE: May 7, 2015
SUBJECT: Budget Adjustments for Fiscal Year (FY) 2014-15
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the FY 2014-15 budget adjustments delineated on Exhibit A.
DISCUSSION
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Ed Jones, Chair
Chuck Huffer, Vice Chair
George Lange, Director
Susan L. Holt, Director
Joe Gibson, Director
GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS
Tex Ward
A review of the FY 2014-15 budgets has been completed. The following adjustments are
recommended for the reasons noted.
General Fund
The district budgets an amount for workers' compensation costs for existing employees in
each work center. An additional amount, for persons who are no longer active employees, is
budgeted in the Risk Management work center. The total amount budgeted in the general
fund for this fiscal year is approximately $295,000. Costs this year have exceeded the budget
primarily due to medical and legal expenses. The proposed adjustment, $120,000, will be
funded with unbudgeted property tax revenue.
In addition to workers' compensation, the district's liability claim expenses are projected to
exceed budget, due primarily to one lawsuit. The proposed adjustment, $85,000, will be
funded with unbudgeted property tax revenue.
It is also proposed that $25,000 in vending machine proceeds, accumulated over several fiscal
years, be used to fund the purchase of soccer goals ($20,000) for Conejo Creek South, and
furniture for the Crowley House ($5,000) in support of holding new Therapeutic programs
there.
403 West Hillcrest Drive I Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
(805) 495-6471 FAX: (805) 497-3199 Email: parks@crpd.org
