CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 15, 2005 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Berger called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Pluth led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: Assistant General Manager Friedl, Administrators Benton and <br />Lewanda, Parks Superintendent Marchesano, Sr. Parks Planner Pluth, Recreation <br />Manager Wiley, Recreation Supervisor Koval, RSVP Director Powers and <br />Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />RSVP Hugs From Home Program <br />Wiley introduced Cindy Powers, RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteers Program), <br />Director. She presented an overview of RSVP, noting that the local unit has 1,200 <br />active volunteers, with an average age of 73, who contribute approximately <br />275,000 volunteer hours yearly through a range of volunteer opportunities <br />including library, thrift stores, senior programs, and food distribution. <br />Powers said that the goal of Hugs from Home is to create homemade articles such <br />as hats and slippers for United States troops. Support for the program is garnered <br />through networking and partnering. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />It was moved by Holt, seconded by Lange, and carried 5-0, to approve the <br />agenda as presented. <br />
