Termination of Porter -Bill Lease Between the California Department of
Transportation (Caltrans) and the Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD)
for approximately 6 acres of land West of 23 Freeway between Paige Lane and
Janss Road
Friedl reported District Counsel Sellers is attending the meeting virtually and is
available for questions. This item is a follow up to an Executive Closed Session held
on July 16th which resulted in the proposed action and resolution presented today.
Friedl reviewed the history of the Porter Hill Lease which encompasses 8.4 acres of
property that runs along the west side of the 23 Freeway between Paige Lane and
Janss Road, directly across the freeway from Conejo Creek South Park. The lease
is set to expire in six years; it has been active but the District no longer needs the
property for park purposes; therefore, there is no longer a need to continue the lease.
District will begin clean-up of the area shortly; not all the property in this area is within
the CRPD leased area. It seems there is some property owned by Ventura County
Watershed Protection District, Temple Etz Chaim and Caltrans. Staff will reach out
