CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />May 16, 2019 <br />7:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Huffer called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. and Nickles led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Cusworth, Holt, Huffer, Lange, Nickles <br />Directors Absent: <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis, Hare, and Lewanda, <br />and Executive Assistant Reynders <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Goebel Adult Community Center — Ballroom Dance Program <br />Patty Hamm, Recreation Supervisor, Goebel Adult Community Center, introduced <br />Recreation Coordinator Mike McAdam, Recreation Leader Emily Vines, and Volunteer <br />Gigi Downes, and credited them for a large part of the Ballroom Dance Program's <br />success. She shared highlights of the program, including a live demonstration of the <br />"Cowboy Cha Cha" by six dancers who attend the bi-monthly event. Free dance lessons <br />are available one hour before each dance begins and a live band is always present. <br />Hamm described the program's details. There is a $10 entrance fee per person. The 24 <br />dances in 2018 provided $23,800 in revenue; the average attendance was 115 per dance. <br />Hamm answered Board members' questions and was thanked for her informative <br />presentation. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Gina Muscatel would like to see easier facilitation for foster youth to receive financial <br />assistance for CRPD programs and suggested the use of a voucher system. <br />5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />It was moved by Holt, seconded by Lange, and carried 5-0 to approve the agenda as <br />presented. <br />
