In the past, the process of updating the Strategic Plan has
usually taken anywhere from one to four Board meetings. The original Strategic Plan was created
with the help of an outside consultant. Since then, the annual updates have been done by the Board
and staff.
The current version of the Five -Year Strategic Plan 2016-2020 was approved and published in July
2016. It is reviewed annually and discussed annually, though a more comprehensive review with
republished document is undertaken every 3-5 years. With two newly elected Directors (November
2018), this is a good time to review, update and republish the Strategic Plan.
During the Board Retreat on Saturday January 26th, we began to discuss opportunities and
challenges facing the District in the coming years and we considered the District's Mission, Vision and
Statement of Philosophy. There were no changes to the Mission or Statement of Philosophy and a
minor addition to the Vision statement.
The attached DRAFT update to the Strategic Plan is meant to begin the update process leading to a
new Five -Year Strategic Plan 2019-2023. During this discussion item, the Board will be asked to
consider any proposed changes and provide input on this DRAFT document.
The Strategic Plan, coupled with the Master Plan, 2 -Year Operating and Capital Improvement Budget
and 10 -Year Capital Improvement Program, are the primary policy documents upon which staff
regularly relies to carry out the Board's direction.
STRATEGIC PLAN COMPLIANCE
6.6 Annually update Strategic Plan
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
403 West Hillcrest Drive • Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
(805) 495-6471 - FAX: (805) 497-3199 • Email: parks@crpd.org • Website: www.orpd.org
