Determine that the Fiore Playfield Playground Improvement Project is categorically exempt <br />from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />2. Approve playground improvements at Fiore Playfield. <br />3. Award bid to Jaynes Brothers Construction for $164,016.09 plus contingency in the amount of <br />$16,413.91, totaling $180,430 for removal of existing play equipment, sand, block walls, <br />installation of concrete ramp, play fiber and new play equipment. <br />CEQA COMPLIANCE <br />For the Board consideration and approval, District staff believes the project qualifies for a Class <br />2 Categorical Exemption, pursuant to Section 15302 of the CEQA Guidelines. Class 2 exemptions <br />include replacement of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on <br />the same site as the structure replaced. In this project, the project is replacing the existing play <br />equipment located in the same location. <br />DISCUSSION <br />A Notice Inviting Bids was advertised in the Ventura County Star, Construction Bidboard, Inc., <br />Builder's Notebook, Ventura County Contractor's Association, Inc., and posted on the District <br />website. Twelve interested bidders attended the mandatory pre-bid meeting held at the site on <br />Tuesday, October 3rd.
