Holt, Director Date: September 16, 2010 GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS To: Board of Directors Tex Ward From: Jim Friedl, General Manag r Subject: Agreement with Conejo Disc Golf Club for Use of Rabbit Flats Disc Golf Cou rse RECOMMENDATION Authorize General Manager to enter into an agreement with Conejo Disc Golf Club (CDGC). DISCUSSION In 1969, the World's first Disc Golf Tournament was held at Conejo Community Park and the sport of Disc Golf was launched. Since that time, Disc Golf has grown into national sport consisting of over an estimated 40,000 registered participants in the worldwide Professional Disc Golf Association and over 2,500 courses. As a result of several community wide meetings in spring 2003, the District developed a Disc Golf Course (Rabbit Flats) located at Thousand Oaks Community Park, completed in May 2010. CDGC is a non-profit organization founded in the spring of 2010. CDGC formed to represent the members' collective disc golf interests at Rabbit Flats. CDGC members have provided hundreds of volunteer hours in the planning and development of the Rabbits Flats course and were instrumental in the opening and initial success of the course. CDGC desires to work with the District to continue to promote the sport of disc golf, participation locally and regionally. Additionally, CDGC desires to continue to assist the District in the maintenance and operation of Rabbit Flats.
