Holt, Director <br />Date: September 16, 2010 <br />GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS <br />To: Board of Directors Tex Ward <br />From: Jim Friedl, General Manag r <br />Subject: Agreement with Conejo Disc Golf Club for Use of Rabbit Flats Disc Golf <br />Cou rse <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Authorize General Manager to enter into an agreement with Conejo Disc Golf Club <br />(CDGC). <br />DISCUSSION <br />In 1969, the World's first Disc Golf Tournament was held at Conejo Community Park <br />and the sport of Disc Golf was launched. Since that time, Disc Golf has grown into <br />national sport consisting of over an estimated 40,000 registered participants in the <br />worldwide Professional Disc Golf Association and over 2,500 courses. <br />As a result of several community wide meetings in spring 2003, the District developed a <br />Disc Golf Course (Rabbit Flats) located at Thousand Oaks Community Park, completed <br />in May 2010. <br />CDGC is a non-profit organization founded in the spring of 2010. CDGC formed to <br />represent the members' collective disc golf interests at Rabbit Flats. CDGC members <br />have provided hundreds of volunteer hours in the planning and development of the <br />Rabbits Flats course and were instrumental in the opening and initial success of the <br />course. <br />CDGC desires to work with the District to continue to promote the sport of disc golf, <br />participation locally and regionally.
