CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 22, 2008 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Lange called the meeting to order at 7:28 p.m., and Forrest Frields fed the <br />flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Halt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Hare and Lewanda, <br />Recreation Manager Wiley, Recreation Supervisor Lukes, Recreation Specialist <br />Dee Pearson, and Executive Assistant Ohren <br />3. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Barbara Kloster, President of ETI, thanked the District for its long-term support. <br />4. SPECIAL PRESENTATION <br />Lifeguard Certification Program — Kevin Lukes <br />Lukes introduced Sports Office staff including Ron Dugar, Recreation Leader; <br />Dana Miller, Recreation Coordinator; Dee Pearson, Recreation Specialist; <br />and Julia Harris, Instructor Guard. <br />Pearson provided a presentation of the Lifeguard Certification Program. She <br />identified critical aspects of the program including proficiency in swimming, first aid, <br />CPR, and on -land, on -deck, and in -water rescue. She referenced the lifeguard <br />skills checklist and discussed charges and reimbursements. She thanked the <br />Board for its support of the program. <br />5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />It was moved by Holt, seconded by Berger, and carried 5-0 to approve the <br />agenda as presented. <br />
