Alex Fiore <br />Thousand <br />CONEJO RECREATION & PARK WSTRTCT <br />TO: City of Thousand Oaks and <br />Conejo Recreation and Park District <br />FROM: Brenda Coleman, Teen Services Director <br />Conejo Recreation and Park District <br />DATE: August 27, 2004 <br />SUBJECT: Teen Center Status Report Winter 2004 <br />SUMMARY: <br />During the period January 1, 2004 to March 31, 2004, attendance at <br />the Teen Center totaled 38,836 units of participation. <br />The daily drop-in average of 265 participants comprised a total. of <br />23,850 units of participation. <br />There were 210 enrolled in Recreation classes. In addition, 15 <br />teens participated in the Student Union Afterschool Program and 255 <br />teens were registered in league play. <br />Special Events and Excursions brought 11,796 people to the Center. <br />Permit Group attendance totaled 2,710 participants. These mixed <br />groups are locally based. <br />HIGHLIGHTS: <br />Monthly theme dances continue to draw large numbers of middle <br />school students. 1,150 teens attended the Valentine's Day Dance <br />and 1,250 attended the St. Patrick's Day Dance. <br />Eight -hundred high school age teens attended the annual Spirit <br />Might competition. Additionally, 90 high school boys participated <br />in the TNC/CYBA Winter League. <br />Both snowboard trips filled up with 40 participants. The Center <br />staff continues to conduct sports programs on Tuesdays at Conejo <br />Valley High School. <br />Teen Center staff with the assistance of the Youth Outreach Workers <br />offered three Off -Road Motorcycle overnight trips. This <br />specialized small group experience is designed for high risk teens <br />and is conducted in cooperation with PALS.
