Conejo Recreation & Park District
GENERAL MANAGER
Jim Friedl
Date: June 1, 2017
To: Board of Directors
From: Jim Friedl, General Manage
Subject: Parks and Planning Divis rsonnel Action
RECOMMENDATION
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
George M. Lange, Chair
Susan L. Holt, Vice Chair
Joe Gibson, Director
Ed Jones, Director
Chuck Huffer, Director
GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS
Tex Ward
Reclassify the existing Park Planner position (range 57) to Senior Park Planner (range 63)
DISCUSSION
Since the retirement of a Park Planner in January 2015, the District has been operating with
one Park Planner. Prior to 2015, the District traditionally had two in-house planner positions.
Staff has evaluated the current level of work required and in the foreseeable future and
recommends that the Park Planner position be reclassified to a Senior Park Planner.
This reclassification better reflects the actual in-house staff work necessary to plan and
implement projects anticipated in the 2 -year capital improvement budget and the 10 -Year
Capital Improvement Plan. Staff expects to continue to operate the Parks and Planning
Division with this one Senior Park Planner position.
With the recommended reclassification, the Planning units will continue to provide prompt,
effective, efficient, and quality service to the District. It is recommended that these changes
be effective July 2017.
This personnel action would have an approximate additional $27,000 annual cost to payroll
which is included in the proposed budgets.
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
403 West Hillcrest Drive - Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
(805) 495-6471 • FAX: (805) 497-3199 - Email: parks@crpd.org .
