In the past, the process of updating the Strategic
Plan has usually taken anywhere from one to three Board meetings. The original Strategic Plan
was created with the help of an outside consultant. Since then, the annual updates have been
done by the Board and staff.

This meeting is the “kick-off” meeting where the Board is asked to review, at a very high level,
the overall purpose and direction of the District (Mission, Vision, Statement of Philosophy). In
addition, the Board may want to start to consider the strategic elements and goals (specific,
measureable activities or targets) to accomplish over the five-year planning horizon with the bulk
of the discussion expected to occur during the Study Session scheduled for
Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 8:30 AM on the North Campus of California Lutheran University in
Room 254 of the Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center.

The Strategic Plan, coupled with the Budget and Master Plan, are the primary policy documents
staff regularly relies upon to carry-out the Board’s direction.

The Strategic Plan is available on the District’s website at www.crpd.org.
