May 9, 2013 <br />Page 4 <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Parks Division Report <br />Hare reported six proposals for Environmental and Design Services for Lang <br />Ranch Community Park Improvements have been received. He also reported the <br />Oakbrook Neighborhood Park Ribbon Cutting is scheduled for Saturday, May 11th <br />at 2:00 pm. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Lindsey referenced the Recreation Highlights. The Sycamore to the Sea hike was <br />cancelled due to the recent fire. The Concerts in the Park season opens with the <br />Memorial Day Concert. The Arts Council of the Conejo Valley's next exhibition in the <br />gallery at Hillcrest Center will be "Voice of the Arts" celebrating CRPD's 50 years of <br />parks and recreation in the Conejo Valley. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda referenced the Claims Liability Report noting the District prevailed in the <br />recent small claims court suit. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reported a recent Thousand Oaks Star news article featured CRPD's 50th <br />Anniversary. He also noted he will attend a workshop on post -fire monitoring of the <br />Springs Fire bum area at Cal State Channel Islands representing COSCA and <br />CRPD. Next week, while he is attending the California Special District's Association <br />Legislative meeting and the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts <br />Conference, Karen Lindsey will be acting general manager. Friedl noted there would <br />be a need for a closed session this evening with no report expected. <br />E. Directors' Reports <br />F. Follow -Up Reports on Meetings/Conferences Attended <br />Lange reported there was an investigative reporter at the last MRCA Board meeting. <br />Lange attended the State Parks' ribbon cutting event opening the restored Malibu <br />Lagoon. He also attended a CRPD 50th Anniversary presentation for the Ascension <br />Lutheran "Lunch Bunch" group meeting. <br />
