Lange, Vice Chair
Susan L. Holt, Director
Joe Gibson, Director
Ed Jones, Director
GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS
Tex Ward
Agreement with Conejo Disc Golf Club for Use of Rabbit Flats and Sapwi Disc
Golf Courses
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize General Manager to enter into an agreement with Conejo Disc Golf Club (CDGC).
DISCUSSION
In 1969, the World's first Disc Golf Tournament was held at Conejo Community Park and the sport
of Disc Golf was launched. Since that time, Disc Golf has grown into national sport consisting of
over an estimated 89,000 registered participants in the worldwide Professional Disc Golf
Association and over 6,000 courses.
The District developed a Disc Golf Course (Rabbit Flats) located at Thousand Oaks Community
Park, completed in May 2010.
CDGC is a non-profit organization founded in the spring of 2010. CDGC formed to represent the
members' collective disc golf interests. CDGC members have provided hundreds of volunteer
hours in the planning and development of the Rabbit Flats course and were instrumental in its
opening and initial success.
In September 2010, the District entered into an Agreement with CDGC regarding Rabbit Flats.
As CRPD has recently received approval for an additional course at Sapwi Trails Community
Park, staff recommends entering into a new agreement which describes the District and CDGC's
relationship at both courses.
Highlights of the agreement include:
• CDGC will be the primary community permitted group at Rabbit Flats and Sapwi.
• CDGC will assist and coordinate, under CRPD's direction and approval, with the
maintenance of Rabbit Flats and Sapwi. Any improvements to the course shall be the sole
property of CRPD.
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES
403 West Hillcrest Drive • Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
(805) 495-6471 • FAX: (805) 497-3199 • Email: parks@crpd.org • Website: www.crpd.org
