Q0R(NJ@
GENERAL MANAGER
Jim Friedl
DATE: April 3, 2014
TO: Board of Directors
FROM: Jim Friedl, General Manage
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Joe Gibson, Chair
Ed Jones, Vice Chair
George Lange, Director
Susan L. Holt, Director
Chuck Huffer, Director
GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS
Tex Ward
SUBJECT: Proposed First Amendment --t Option and Lease Agreement with Verizon
Wireless for Change in Location of Cellular Communications Facility at North
Ranch Playfield
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize the General Manager to execute First Amendment to Option and Lease
Agreement between Verizon Wireless (VZW) and the District to memorialize a change in
location of the cellular communications facility at North Ranch Playfield.
2. Authorize the General Manager to execute other documents and agreements necessary to
effectuate this wireless installation.
DISCUSSION
In September 2012, the Board approved a wireless communications facility at North Ranch
Playfield. The Planning Commission later considered the project and, aware of the public's
sensitivity to such installations, required VZW to move the facilities to the interior of the
property, thus creating further distance between the facilities and neighboring residents. The
newly proposed location is outside of the south ballfield on the first base side of the field. With
this change in location, VZW intends to utilize the existing light standard against the perimeter
ballfield fence northwest of the volleyball court. They will place the underground equipment
vault immediately adjacent to the antenna pole on the west side. The Planning Commission is
also requiring a re -design of the two above -ground vent stacks placing them at grade similar to
the vault hatch.
403 West Hillcrest Drive I Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
(805) 495-6471 FAX: (805) 497-3199 Email: parks@crpd.org
