Spring 2012 saw the launch
of the CRPD Facebook page, which currently has a fan base of more than 2,600. In response
to the growing needs of Facebook interactions and other online social media activities, a part-
time staff position was created in 2013 to provide regular, timely oversight of the CRPD
Facebook page as well as promote the District and its activities via other social media
platforms.
In October 2013, Alison McLane was hired to assist with the CRPD website, oversee social
media for the District, and develop opportunities with trending social media entities. In addition
to an increased Facebook presence over the past four months, the District now has active
accounts with Twitter, Google Plus, Foursquare, YouTube, and Instagram. Via these media,
the Conejo Recreation and Park District is now creating its image or "brand" to the public that
includes District classes and special events as well as support for healthy activities, open
space, and other items deemed noteworthy of District advancement/ interest/endorsement.
Participation in these platforms also is intended to open channels of communication with the
public and allow for District interaction with the community. Oversight of the Facebook and
Twitter accounts is currently providing up -to -the -moment responses to customer comments
and questions and giving staff a better understanding of the District's presence in the
community.
403 West Hillcrest Drive I Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
(805) 495-6471 FAX: (805) 497-3199 Email: parks@crpd.org
