CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />January 23, 2014 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br /> <br />M I N U T E S <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br /> <br />Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and John Short led the flag salute. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Huffer, Jones <br /> <br />Directors Absent: Lange <br /> <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Hare, Lewanda and Lindsey <br />and Executive Assistant Reynders <br /> <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br /> Aquatics – Lifeguard Training <br /> <br /> Dee Pearson, Aquatics Program Director, presented an overview of the lifeguard training <br />program, which includes back boarding, lessons, team building, emergency action plan, <br />rescue skills, CPR/AED and keeping fresh on all skills. Statistics from the summer of 2013 <br />include 9,254 classes, 27,095 students, and 28,511 people who enjoyed recreational <br />swim. Pearson answered Board member’s questions and was thanked by the Board for <br />her informative presentation. <br /> <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Reynders presented Chair Gibson with a “Recognition in Special District Governance” <br />from the Special District Leadership Foundation. <br /> <br />5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />It was moved by Holt, seconded by Huffer, and carried 4-0 to approve the agenda as <br />presented. <br /> <br />6. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />A. Approval of Minutes of January 9, 2014 Regular Board Meeting <br />
