Minutes 3-25-15 <br />Page 2 <br />3. PUBLIC DISCUSSION <br />Seerden welcomed City of Thousand Oaks Council on Aging Commissioner, <br />Nancy Healey, to the meeting and invited her to address the Commission. <br />Healy explained that as part of the City of Thousand Oaks Council on Aging <br />Senior Adult Master Plan, council members have over the last two to three <br />years, studied the Village to Village Network. She said the closest "Network," <br />located in Santa Barbara, has been in operation for three years and <br />described it as basically a group of seniors that like to help other seniors. <br />Healy said of prime interest is the Stay in Home Longer program that assists <br />seniors to continue to live on their own, in their own homes, as opposed to <br />moving into an assisted living facility. She said four focus group meetings <br />are planned to assess the need and gage the desire of the community for <br />such a program. <br />Healy noted that the first of the four focus group meetings will be made up of <br />"senior leaders," individuals that are already involved with the senior <br />community. She said the initial focus group meeting is scheduled on April 13 <br />at the Thousand Oaks Library, and the intention is to plan and develop <br />questions to be used at the general public focus group meetings. Healy <br />requested that the Goebel Senior Center Commission be represented at the <br />initial meeting. <br />Blum, Cleary, Colilles-Fuentes, and Schiano agreed to attend and <br />participate at the initial focus group meeting on April 13. <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 25, 2015 <br />Seerden asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the February meeting. <br />It was moved by Basilio, seconded by Martinich and passed <br />unanimously to approve the February Meeting Minutes as presented. <br />5. OLD AND NEW BUSINESS <br />A. GSCC Applicant Review Committee Candidate Interview Results <br />Smith, Applicant Review Committee Chair, reported that nine Commission <br />applicants were interviewed March 11 by the committee and he distributed <br />the committee recommendations.
