Berger, Gillette, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange
Directors Absent: None
Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Jorgensen and Sorensen,
Recreation Manager Lindsey, and Executive Secretary Ohren
Sorensen introduced Robert Marchesano, newly hired Parks Maintenance
Superintendent. He presented a brief overview of Marchesano's professional
achievements, and welcomed him to the District. On behalf of the Board, Jacobsen
also welcomed Marchesano.
3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS
4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC
Nick Quidway, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to address the Board,
and distributed handouts. He said that the community lacks sufficient parks and
youth facilities, but cautioned against the District's possible partnership with the City
of Thousand Oaks, relative to a possible bond issue, and he urged openness in all
financial matters.
Jacobsen thanked Quidway for his concerns, and said that the District seeks to work
cooperatively with other governmental agencies and seeks the support of the public.
He cited evidence of cooperative partnerships such as the Conejo Creek North
facilities.
Bill Minguez expressed his concern about potential cutbacks affecting Newbury
Gateway Park. Ward and Jacobsen indicated that Mr. Minguez's concerns would
be addressed later under agenda item 8.D., and invited him to read the
documentation and stay for the presentation, discussion, and Board action.
