Minutes 1-4-95
Page 3
In response to Board inquiries, Ward said that Supervisor
Schillo and Gillette will be consulted and a
determination made about the continuance of the Conejo
Ventura Park Services Agency. Additionally, Ward
reviewed the activities of the various committees, noting
that the District considers the Teen Center and Services
Authority a joint -powers authority, but the City of
Thousand Oaks has not appointed representatives to the
authority; and the main issue of the Government Center
Committee is to track the District's equity in 401
Hillcrest, the former City Hall.
It was moved by Gillette, seconded by Holt, and carried
unanimously, 4-0, with Jacobsen not yet in attendance to
confirm all fixed term and standing committee assignments
as they now stand with the exception of Lange's
appointment to the Teen Center and Services Authority,
which is extended to March 25, 1998.
B. Approval To Establish The District's Presence On The
Internet
At Jorgensen's suggestion, at 7:55 p.m the Board
proceeded to the outer meeting area to witness the
Internet demonstration by Ian Bentley of Advanced Network
Solutions.
After witnessing the demonstration, the Board returned
to the main meeting area at 8:31 p.m., and Gillette
assumed the chair.
Jorgensen described staff's analysis of the District's
potential presence on the Internet, and identified the
components, anticipated benefits, and costs of the three
proposed phases of project implementation. Jorgensen and
Bentley answered questions,
Holt and Berger encouraged implementation of Phase 2 as
soon as possible. Jacobsen urged, and staff concurred,
that quality graphics and maps be used. Gillette said
that staff must remain cognizant of the measurement
criteria for the new venture; i.e., District resident
satisfaction and the improvement of District services.
