CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 6, 1998 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />GOEBEL SENIOR ADULT CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Lange called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m., and Washington led the flag <br />salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gillette, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Jorgensen, Sorensen, and <br />Washington, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Conejo Valley Historical Society Annual Report <br />Ward congratulated the Society on an excellent annual report. He said that the <br />Conservation Assessment spoke well of the Society's efforts, and he introduced <br />Beverly Viola. <br />On behalf of the 400 members of the Conejo Valley Historical Society, Beverly <br />Viola, president, expressed appreciation and paid tribute to the District for the <br />excellent partnership that exists between the District and the Society. She <br />identified areas of concern and current needs at the museum complex, praised the <br />efforts of 170 volunteers, and answered questions. <br />Board members congratulated her and the Society for their accomplishments and <br />outstanding report. <br />Mountain Lion Presentation - Bruce Kniola <br />Sorensen introduced Ranger Kniola. <br />Kniola contrasted the bobcat and mountain lion, and presented information on the <br />mountain lion's correct name, appearance, habitat, mating rituals, behavior, <br />predatory habits, and life cycle. He explained reporting and sighting protocols and <br />signage, and answered questions. <br />
