CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 16, 1999 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />GOEBEL SENIOR ADULT CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Holt called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m., and Lange led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, , Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange <br />Berger arrived 7:50 p.m. <br />Directors Absent: Gibson <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrator Sorensen, Recreation <br />Services Manager Wiley, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Young Athlete Recognition Award - Alyson Blum <br />Jacobsen and Holt welcomed Blum, reviewed her athletic accomplishments and <br />noted that she was nominated for the award by Counselor Richard Intlekofer and <br />Coach Peter Ackerman, Head Softball Coach at Newbury Park High School. <br />Coach Ackerman praised her determination and hard work. On behalf of the <br />Board and District, Holt presented Blum with the award. Blum thanked the Board <br />and her coaches, said her athletic experiences are serving her well in college, and <br />spoke of her future plans to serve in the Marine Corps. Lange congratulated and <br />extended best wishes to Blum. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Toula Colovos, Thousand Oaks, expressed appreciation to the District for its <br />services to the community and for the preservation of Hill Canyon. She displayed <br />a landscape of Hill Canyon and said that all proceeds received from the sale of her <br />prints will be donated to the District for use in Hill Canyon. She asked for <br />assistance in displaying posters in District centers. <br />Holt and Berger suggested that she also contact the local papers and Arthur E. <br />Eck, Superintendent of Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, for <br />publicity opportunities. Holt thanked Colovos for her generosity. <br />
