CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 3, 1999 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />GOEBEL SENIOR ADULT CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Holt called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Lange led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Jorgensen, Sorensen, and <br />Washington, Recreation Supervisor Lukes, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Young Athlete Award - Anthony Foil <br />Holt and Jacobsen welcomed Foli, and reviewed his athletic and scholastic <br />accomplishments. Lukes presented a video of highlights from the October 15 <br />football game between Westlake and Newbury Park High Schools. Coach Hurley <br />expressed pride in Foli's accomplishments and confidence in his future. On behalf <br />of the Board, Holt and Jacobsen presented Foli with the Young Athlete Award. <br />Foli said he was honored to receive the award, and thanked all for their support, <br />including his coaching staff and family. Board members congratulated Foli and <br />Coach Hurley, and wished Foli continued success. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Chris Buckett, Thousand Oaks, expressed support for a binding ballot measure <br />for the Hill Canyon project, expressed opposition to Investing further resources into <br />the project and the proposed task force, and cited concerns for the environment <br />and financial accountability. She said that if the task force is formed it should <br />focus on financial aspects of the project, and Hill Canyon should be protected and <br />treasured by all residents. <br />Nick Quidwai, Newbury Park, stated his support of local athletic activities. <br />
