January 24, 2002 <br />Page 6 <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Park Division Report <br />Sorensen reported that soon staff expects to present two recommendations <br />for Board consideration; one, relative to District participation as a member of <br />the Ventura Operational Area for purposes of coordinating public agency <br />response to emergencies and disasters and, two, an MOU (Memorandum of <br />Understanding) with the Community Gardens group. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Scott reported that on January 25 teens from the Teen Center will enjoy an <br />evening at Staple Center watching the Lakers play the San Antonio Spurs, on <br />January 28 several teens will go to Mountain High for a snowboard trip, and <br />on January 25 through 27, the Young Artists Ensemble will present The lend <br />in the Willows at the Civic Arts Plaza. <br />C. Administration Division Report <br />Jorgensen reported that Board members will be contacted and given <br />assistance to correct problems with their District e-mail capability. He thanked <br />Lange for the reminder to update the District's internet site to reflect the <br />current Chair and Vice Chair; and said that staff has met with representatives <br />of Santa Barbara Bank and Trust and when a proposal is submitted, it will be <br />compared with the District's current banking services provider <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Ward reported that the escrow process has begun for the sale of the <br />administration office at 155 East Wilbur Road, and closing is anticipated the <br />end of April. He said that he plans to attend the CARPD (California <br />Association for Recreation and Park Districts) Legislative meeting February <br />1, and art amenities within the 401 Hillcrest building will be used to satisfy the <br />requirements of Percent for the Arts program. <br />E. Directors' Reports <br />Lange noted that nominations for VCSDA (Ventura County Special Districts <br />Association) awards are now being solicited, and winners will be honored at <br />the March Annual Dinner meeting. <br />
