CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 2, 2003 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Lange called the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m., and Susan Ward led the flag <br />salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Assistant General Manager Sorensen, <br />Administrators Jorgensen and Scott, Parks Superintendent Marchesano, and <br />Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Employee Recognition Awards <br />Senior staff members commended District employees, and Board members <br />thanked and congratulated the honorees. An overview of each employee's <br />professional and academic achievements was presented. On behalf of the Board <br />and staff, Ward presented awards to the honorees. Lange presented an award to <br />Ward. <br />Tex Ward received an award for 35 years, William Spear for 25 years; Kevin <br />Lukes for 20 years; David Gundy, and Patti Ricketts for 15 years, and Cecilia <br />Laufenberg for five years. <br />Honorees thanked staff, management, and Board of Directors for their support, <br />and spoke of their pride in the organization. <br />On behalf of the City Council and citizens of the City of Thousand Oaks, Mayor <br />Andy Fox presented Ward with a resolution honoring his 35 years of service to the <br />community. Mayor Fox and City Manager Phil Gatch said that Ward is an <br />outstanding leader, with vision, commitment to involve the community, and a <br />willingness to partner with the City.
