CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 5, 2005 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Berger called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m., and Scott Buchanan fed the <br />flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Halt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Assistant General Manager Friedl, <br />Administrators Benton and Lewanda, and Administrative Secretary Reynders. <br />3. ARTS COALITION, CULTURAL UNIT AND ARTS COUNCIL OF <br />CONEJO VALLEY <br />Administrator Benton introduced Scott Buchanan, Recreation Supervisor, who <br />explained the mission of the Cultural Unit at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts and <br />outlined many of its offerings. He then introduced Margaret Travers, President of <br />the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley. Ms. Travers also serves as Executive <br />Director of the Ventura County Arts Council. She thanked the Board for their <br />ongoing support of the arts in the Conejo Valley and the Arts Council. She <br />outlined the purpose of the Arts Council and invited the Board members to the <br />Annual Board Meeting and Installation of Officers on Wednesday, May 11t` at <br />7:00 pm, to be held on the set in the Theatre at Hillcrest Center. Due to Chair <br />Berger's meeting conflict, Vice Chair Gibson indicated that he will be pleased to <br />represent the Board at the Installation. Director Holt thanked Ms. Travers for the <br />wonderful job she has done for the community. Chair Berger also mentioned that <br />at the recent CARPD Conference, an award was presented to the District for the <br />"Theatre for Everyone" program. <br />4.
