CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 16, 2006 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Jacobsen led the flag <br />salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl; Administrators Benton, Hare and Lewanda; <br />and Executive Assistant Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />John Short II, Thousand Oaks Little League, thanked the District for the <br />retirement celebration honoring Tex Ward, and the bronze plaque for the <br />Thousand Oaks Big League World Champions --2006, which will be memorialized <br />at Conejo Creek South. He congratulated Holt, Gibson and Berger on their <br />reelection to the Board of Directors, and thanked them for their service to the <br />community. <br />John Irwin spoke of the extreme need for additional aquatic facilities in the <br />community, and said he supports the partnership involving California Lutheran <br />University (CLU), City of Thousand Oaks, and Conejo Recreation & Park District <br />(CRPD) relative to the CLU aquatics facility. He cited the benefits of aquatics for <br />youth, those with special needs, and adults. <br />Ron Ross, Conejo Simi Aquatics (CSA), spoke in support of the CLU aquatics <br />facility. He noted many benefits of such a facility, including the positive financial <br />impact on the community and urged support. <br />
