CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 5, 2006 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Berger called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m., and Wiley led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Assistant General Manager Friedl, <br />Administrator Benton, Recreation Manager Wiley, Recreation Supervisor Koval and <br />Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Goebel Senior Adult Center Presentation — Recreation Supervisor Koval <br />Koval identified many examples of senior programs, activities, and events offered at <br />Goebel Center, and highlighted the Senior Festival "Celebration of Life" and the Senior <br />Softball program. She said that the Senior Festival provided educational seminars to <br />approximately 450-600 attendees and both non-profit and senior -serving vendors <br />participated. Continuing, Koval said that the Senior Softball program is one of the <br />largest on-going activities at the center, there are five age divisions, 24 players are <br />over 75 years of age, and two traveling teams, the 70+Lighthouse Mariners and the <br />65+Thousand Oaks Panthers, both won significant tournaments this year. <br />Board members congratulated and thanked Koval for the many successful programs <br />and services provided at Goebel Senior Adult Center. Benton said that Goebel Center <br />has served as a model for many other agencies. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Gregg Amodei, Thousand Oaks Little League, requested a progress update on <br />development of Lang Ranch Park site baseball field construction, and said there is an <br />urgent need for more fields. <br />
